Cypher: What were you doing to stay in shape before you started Cypher?

At the time nothing because I had knee surgery, but before that I was playing soccer.

Cypher: What do you do for work?

Manager at a restaurant.

Cypher: How did you hear about Crossfit Cypher and CrossFit?

My friends joined the New You Challenge and asked me to join.

Cypher: Describe your first day participating in a CrossFit workout. Do you remember what the WOD was? What was it like, and what were your thoughts when you left the gym?

I don’t remember the WOD. I just know that it was hard. When I left the gym I was like why did I sign up for this? Didn’t know if I was going to go back to the next class.

Cypher: What has been the most challenging part of CrossFit for you?
At first everything with my knee, I couldn’t even do a right squat.

What has been the most rewarding part of CrossFit for you?

Making my knee strong and being able to move better.

Cypher: What is one of your most memorable CrossFit PRs or milestones? What did it feel like when you did it?

The first time I did 200# in the Deadlift. It feels great.


Cypher: What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CrossFit?

I’m stronger in my knee. I lost weight and I feel better.

Cypher: What encouragement or words of advice would you give to new people coming in?

Don’t give up. The first week will be hard, but after that you will love it.

Cypher: You joined us originally through the New You Challenge almost 9 months ago. Congrats on starting and sticking with it! Why do you think you have been so driven to make fitness a part of your life?

I love the change in my body. I love how I’m getting stronger.


Cypher: What fitness goals have you set for yourself to achieve in the next 12 months?

i want to be able to do a pull-up.

Cypher: What are some of your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of the gym? Any fun facts your gym-mates might not know about you?

I love to play soccer and going shooting.

Cypher: If you could describe Cypher in five words, what would they be?

Family, strong, happy place, community, motivation.
Cypher: Any other thoughts or shoutouts?
Shoutouts to the coaches for pushing me when I don’t even believe in myself.
